South Devon, England (2 nights camping)

Day 1 – Arriving at Holmans Wood Campsite

Having purchased our tent back in March we hadn’t got round to going camping and our first available weekend wasn’t until July. I packed the tent and all of our camping equipment into the car on the Friday afternoon and headed to Devon. Stu was working so he was going to make his own way from Windsor and meet us there.

I had booked a pitch for 2 nights at Holmans Wood. We had never been camping before so had no idea what to expect. The kids and I arrived at about 4.30pm and it was lovely and quiet so they played in the fields whilst I put up the tent.

I didn’t do a bad job putting the tent up on my own!

We ate some snacks for tea and the kids explored the grounds – there was a little park for them to play in and some paths around the fields to walk along. We then had quite an early night.

Day 2 – Coastal Walking

East Soar

We were up quite early and after breakfast headed to East Soar to do a coastal walk. We parked in the National Trust Car Park and followed some paths through fields before we reached the cliffs. There were beautiful views along the coast line and as we followed the headland round we could see Salcombe.

Salcombe

We returned to the car and headed to Salcombe. It was a beautiful walk along the harbour, we popped to a pub for lunch and then sat on the wall and had a go at crabbing which was unsuccessful.

After a quick ice cream we headed to the beach near Torquay so we could have a paddle.

We returned to the campsite and had a BBQ for tea. Tom and Izzy spent ages collecting sticks from around the site to set fire to!

Day 3 – Dartmouth

We got up and it was a bit grey and miserable out. We packed up the tent and then headed into Dartmouth to go crabbing again. This time we caught loads which the kids loved. We set them all free before going for a little walk and then returning home.
