We wanted to head up Cleeve Hill for an early morning walk before the car park filled up so left the house at 8am and set off for the carpark by the golf club. When we left Cheltenham it was grey and drizzling but when we arrived at Cleeve hill the main carpark was closed (although the smaller one was open) as everywhere was covered in snow – which we had not expected.
Tom and Izzy hadn’t really wanted to go for an early walk but when they realised there was snow they were happy!

When we reached the start of our route everywhere was white and as there was low lying mist you couldn’t really see anything. It was brilliant. There was the odd dog walker but we mainly had the place to ourselves.

We followed our standard route down the tracks and headed to the pond as I realised that I didn’t have any photos of it in the snow!

We then followed the valley and headed back up towards Cleeve Hill Common. At this point it started to snow so the kids wanted a snow ball fight whilst Stu got all stressy and wanted to return to the car in case we got stranded!!!! Therefore the kids had a snow ball fight!

At this point we were starting to get a bit cold so we continued our walk up to the tree which was looking very wintery with the snow and mist.

Tom and Izzy devised a sledging game (without sledges) so every slope they found they would sledge down it on their bottoms! We then made our way to the trig point before heading back to the car for hot chocolates. A good 6.8km walk.
