Rhossili Bay, Wales

Despite only returning from Cornwall on the Friday night we decided to spend Sunday at the beach as it was due to be the hottest day of the year so far (full sun and 28 degrees was forecast)

We were out of the house by 6.30am as it was a 2.5 hour drive away and we were not sure how quickly the car park would fill up.

We arrived at the Rhossili Bay Car Park by 9.30am and we needn’t had been so early as there was plenty of room – they hadn’t even needed to open the overflow.

It was a bit early to go down to the beach so we went for a walk along the headland towards Worms Head. The beach below looked beautiful – and very quiet.

We reached the headland but the tide was on its way in so we couldn’t cross. We also didn’t walk down to the beach as we would have to walk back up again and it was getting hot. We noticed that the binoculars at the coast guards hut were no longer out for people to look through – probably due to covid.

We walked back to the car (the car park still wasn’t full) picked up our beach kit and walked the path down to the beach – the first time we had ever trekked down to the beach!

Tom and Izzy had their body boards with them which we had just bought in Cornwall and they were super excited to go into the sea – which was surprisingly warm. It is a beautiful beach and there were some gentle waves but nothing major although Tom and Izzy managed to body board on them.

After playing in the sea for a few hours we headed back up to the car – the climb was hard work in the sun and we passed so many people who going down fully kitted out with BBQ’s, beers – the full works and wondered how they would get it all back to the top!

After a quick ice cream we headed back to Gloucester.
