Tokyo, Japan – a Final Few Hours in Tokyo Before Flying Home

After spending a couple of days on the Izu Peninsula we needed to return to Tokyo as we had an early morning flight back home to the UK. We drove our hire car back to the rental shop in Odawara and then took a slow train back to Tokyo as our bullet train passes had expired.

We had booked rooms at the APA Hotel Haneda as it was next to Anamorinari Train Station which was just 2 stops away from the airport to make our journey easy the following morning. It was too early to check in but we dropped off our bags and then headed into Tokyo for a few final hours.

Shinjuku

We wanted to visit Shinjuku as I wanted to see the 3D cat and Godzilla statue. When we arrived at Shinjuku Station it was well after lunchtime so we were all very hungry and Izzy found a great hotpot restaurant inside the station.

We then headed outside to found the 3D cat & Godzilla and gave Izzy half an hour to go shopping!

Tokyo Skytree

We then took a train over to Tokyo Skytree as I had booked us evening tickets to go up. We spent quite a long time at the top as the views were amazing.

We had a little bit of a sunset!

Tom & Izzy really wanted to pose for this picture!

By the time we got back down it was dark outside and some food stands were all set up at the base of the tower lit up with fairy lights. It was the perfect place to stop for a quick tea!

Despite being tired we quickly returned to the Shibuya Crossing for a final trip to Don Quijotes before heading back to the hotel and a very early alarm for our flight home!
