Rhodes, Greece – A day trip to Lindos to visit the Acropolis

After a busy travel day the previous day we were excited to get out and explore Rhodes. We decided to visit Lindos which was a 30 minute drive away as we wanted to see the Acropolis – the archeological remains of a temple from the 4th century BC.

As we had given ourselves a lie in we arrived mid-morning and the carpark which was a massive gravel patch was looking quite full. Luckily there were some attendants who were directing people (and all the tour buses) where to park and were able to squeeze us all in. From the car park there were some beautiful views of Lindos Beach below.

It was about a ten minute walk from the carpark through part of the town and to the entrance of the Acropolis. There was quite a long queue of people so we waited for about 20 minutes before it was our turn to buy tickets and enter. We enjoyed exploring the Acropolis although we hadn’t appreciated how hot it would be!

My favourite part was the views from the cliff top. We could see a beautiful little beach which we later discovered was called St Paul’s Bay and decided we needed to have a beach day there.

We then decided to go for a wander around Lindos as it is famous for its white buildings and beautiful alleyways. It was very pretty but it was absolutely packed with people so we did not stay very long. There were also lots of cats!

We headed home for the rest of the afternoon to make the most of our pool.
