Rhodes, Greece – Seven Springs and Valley of Butterflies

We had two full days left on Rhodes and we felt like we were running out of things to do. We did a search on Trip Advisor and came across Seven Springs and the Valley of Butterfies and thought that they would be worth a visit.

Seven Springs was only a ten minute drive from our villa so that was our first stop of the day. I am not really sure what we were expecting but we parked up and did a very hot hike down to the water. It was advertised as being seven springs of flowing water running into a pond. We found the pond but there were no waterfalls or flowing springs – although this may well be because it was the end of August and there would not have been any rain for weeks! It was still a nice stop though and it was free.

We then set off for the Valley of Butterflies. As we drove we past a church and stopped to take some photos. We were not able to go inside but we did come across a herd of mountain goats which was quite cool. There was also a shop so we all bought ice creams as it was so hot!

At the Valley of Butterflies it was quite busy and most of the parking was taken up so we ended up in an overflow carpark at the top of the hill. The walk down was fine but we knew it would be a steep hike back to the car! The Valley was quite nice – it was a walkway through a rocky valley and on all of the tree trunks you could see camouflaged butterflies. Also in the water there were tiny crabs and as you walked along the path you had to be quite careful that none had come out the water otherwise they would get stepped on!

We returned home for the evening where we prepared a BBQ and were treated to another spectacular sunset.
