Day 14 – Travelling to the Snaefellsnes Peninsular
We set off quite early so we could spend some time exploring stops on route to our AirBnb on the Snaefellsnes Peninsular. Our first stop was at Gerðuberg Cliffs – which were some basalt columns coming out of the ground.

We then drove along the North of the peninsular so that we could see Kirkjufell. It was sun and blue sky where we were but you could see how cloudy it was the other side of the mountains.

We made it to our holiday house and it had a stream running through the garden with a bridge crossing it! It also had a hot tub so that evening Tom & Izzy spent ages dunking themselves in the freezing stream then running into the hot tub!

Day 15 – Snaefellsnes Peninsular
We began the day by doing some stops on the south coast to look at the rock formations and coast line. It was cold, windy and a bit miserable outside.

We then made our way to Malarrif Lighthouse and there was a little park so Tom & Izzy played on the roundabout and zip line.

We could see that the North side of the peninsular was in sunshine – like the day before – so we headed North! We went to the Saxhóll Crater which is a volcano crater where a staircase has been built to climb to the top. It was really windy on top so we hid inside the crater for a few minutes before climbing back down!

We did a quick stop at Svöðufoss and found a geo-cache before heading home to spend another evening in the hot tub and the kids playing in the stream!

Day 16 – Return to Reykjanes Peninsular and Blue Lagoon
We woke up and it was pouring with rain – I think we realised summer had come to an end. It was our final full day and we were driving down to spend the night near the airport as our flight was really early the next morning. I had also booked tickets to spend the evening at the Blue Lagoon.
We went to the coastline near Grindavuk and the sea was rough! We also visited the Gunnuhver Hot Springs where there was more bubbling mud and steam vents.

At this point we were cold and ready to return home so we found our AirBnb and then waited until we could go to the Blue Lagoon. We absolutely loved the Blue Lagoon – the kids had slushies and it was good fun trying the face mud etc.
