We were on an early morning flight out of Heathrow Airport and it was our first time flying Singapore Airlines. We were very excited to be on an A380 – our favourite plane!

Leaving a grey Heathrow!
The flight was good but I didn’t really enjoy the food. I ordered chicken and potatoes and unfortunately they turned out to be gnocchi. Then for breakfast on arrival none of us wanted the sausage and egg but they had ran out of the noodle option although the lovely cabin crew gave Stu their noodle meal. I wasn’t too worried as had bought myself a yoghurt pot from Pret at Heathrow as I always get hungry on long flights!
When we arrived at Changi Airport it was so fast. We were through passport and immigration within 5 minutes. Also, as an added bonus Tom was on his new passport and got through the e-gates first time – his old passport never worked due to him having braces! The airport was stunning – very shiny and the luggage collection was full of plants growing on the walls.

The Jewel at Changi
It was only 9am in the morning and we could not check into our hotel until 3pm so we paid for our luggage to be stored and went to explore the Jewel. We began by going to the waterfall viewpoint but we were too early to see the waterfall as it was not yet turned on.

We then decided to find the food court and get some breakfast. Stu & I opted for KFC and had chicken with pancakes whilst Tom & Izzy found a noodle bar.

Noodles for breakfast!
By this stage the waterfall had been turned on so we spent ages admiring it from the bottom and then we went back to the top for more views. We also found a Don Quijote which we had missed since Japan so we spent a bit of time browsing the store.

Lots of views of the waterfall!
It was now approaching late morning so we collected our luggage and managed to navigate the train system and make it to our hotel – The Carlton Singapore. Unfortunately we were too early for check-in and they seemed to have a policy of no-one was allowed to check in early so we dropped off our bags and went for a walk. We headed towards the Marina (which was only a ten minute walk) although it was really hot and we were still dressed in our cold UK clothes! The views were stunning and we found the Merlion.

The Marina Bay area
Tom was really starting to feel tired at this point – probably because he refuses to sleep on planes and stays up watching films! We found a beer restaurant for lunch – Brewerkz One Fullerton so that we could all sit down and ordered a selection of sharing platters which were all very good.

We returned to the hotel and were able to access our rooms. The hotel rooms were beautiful although Tom & Izzy had been put on a different floor to us but it didn’t matter. We had a nap and then Stu & I decided to go to Gardens at the Bay to see the light show. We left Tom and Izzy as they were tired and wanted them to have some time to chill.
