We woke up to the most horrendous rain storm and it was really difficult to get packed as to move between rooms in the Airbnb you needed to venture through the garden. Also – we had left all our clothes outside to dry! The weather finally cleared as we left for the airport which was only a twenty minute drive away. We needed to fill our hire car up with fuel before returning it, but unfortunately the petrol stations would not accept our credit card so we handed it back with no fuel and accepted the £30 fine!

We moved through Langkawi airport quickly and had great seats on the plane where we were fed spicy mac and cheese with potato tots – despite the flight being under 1 hour to Kuala Lumpur.

We were not fans of Kuala Lumpur airport but there was a massive shopping mall so we treated ourselves to some cookies from Famous Amos. We then picked up our hire car for the next few days which seemed to take forever. We were very slowly walked to the car and then the lady spent a good 30 minutes videoing the car (without talking to us) before we could drive off.

As we drove into the center of Kuala Lumpur the skies became very dark and grey and we ended up driving through a huge rain storm where it was quite difficult to see. Lots of motorcycles had pulled over and were all sitting under the motorway bridges to keep dry!

We arrived at our hotel – The Hilton Double Tree which was really nice. As we are gold members our rooms were upgraded and we were given access to the members lounge which was just about to open. We headed straight to the lounge and there was so much food and drink available it meant we didn’t need to go out for dinner.

We were all quite tired but Stu & I decided to venture out to see the Petronas Towers (we let Tom & Izzy chill at the hotel). We watched the lightshows and spent ages photographing the towers before heading back for the evening.
