After a busy day in Page it was time to head to our next destination – Zion National Park.
Day 11 – Travelling to Zion & hiking ‘The Narrows’
We left Page early and headed straight for the Zion Visitor Centre which was just under 2 hours away. We parked up and were able to board a shuttle really quickly to take us to the trailhead for the Narrows. We didn’t know much about the hike but knew we had to walk through the river and wear walking boots. We had no intention of attempting the full hike – we just wanted to walk for an hour or so to see some of the scenery.
At the trailhead there was a very short walk along side the river before we needed to get our feet wet.

As we entered the water – it was really busy but the further upstream we walked – the less people there were.

Entering the Virgin River
We hiked for about 30 minutes before turning back – the views were beautiful and there are not many places where you can walk through a canyon in a river.

Exploring the Narrows
We returned to the shuttle and made our way back to the visitor center. We were spending the night at the Hampton Inn in Springdale which was only a five minute drive from the center. The hotel had a beautiful setting with the red rocks behind it – and a really good atmosphere as guests were sitting outside using the hotel grills.

Our hotel for the evening – Hampton Inn, Springdale
We went to a Mexican restaurant for tea and then played in the pool for the evening.
Day 12 – Overlook Canyon trail and return to Vegas
The other hike we wanted to undertake (as there was no way we were doing Angels Landing) was Canyon Overlook. The trailhead has the smallest carpark so we decided to leave really early to ensure we got a space – we got the last one!
The trail was only about a mile (round trip) and because we were so early it was very quiet. It was also quite easy but had some rocks etc which needed climbing over which made it fun for Tom & Izzy

Views from the look out
This was one of my favourite hikes of all time as the view at the end was spectacular! We headed back to the car and then set off for Las Vegas (as we were spending the night there before starting our journey to San Francisco)
