Lake Annecy, France.

We needed to be at Geneva Airport in the evening so rather than spending the day in Chamonix we decided to venture towards Annecy as it is about 45 minutes from the Airport. After a search on the internet we came up with (in our view) a pretty good itinerary!

The Gorges du Fier

Our first stop of the day was The Gorges du Fier which was just over 100 km from Chamonix. It was easy to find and plenty of parking. It was about €18 for the 4 of us to go in but really worth it. We walked on a wooden footbridge through the canyon with the river running below. It wasn’t a long walk before we were out the other side but it was quite cool.

Exploring the Gorges du Fier

We were probably only there for an hour or so but then headed back to the car and drove into Annecy which took about 20 minutes

Lake Annecy

Annecy was beautiful. We parked up right in the middle of the town, walked out of the carpark and found ourselves right on the river . We walked along the riverside past all the restaurants and headed to the Lake. It was so blue. The kids wanted to hire out paddle boats but unfortunately we didn’t really have time and it was about 35 degrees out.

Lake Annecy

We headed back into the town and found the most amazing ice cream shop ‘Glacier Perriere’ which stocked a huge amount of flavours so ate our ice creams over looking Le Palais de L’lle

By this stage it was time to head off the Airport to drop Stuart off. Annecy is definitely somewhere which deserves a future visit!
