We had been waiting for a beautiful sunny morning to tackle this cycle and Sunday did not disappoint. We set off early as we wanted to make sure the State Park did not fill up. We arrived at about 9.30am and unloaded the bikes. We were not sure whether to wear face masks or not so looked at what everyone else was doing. It was about half and half so we took them with us in case we needed them.
We cycled towards the water and the views were beautiful. We could see the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline.

We then proceeded along the waterfront and continued towards the Ferry Terminal passing Ellis Island. The cycle path wasn’t overly busy but perfectly flat and paved.

The cycle route we had chosen ventured into Hoboken – somewhere we had not visited before. We don’t really like road cycling but had googled Hoboken and apparently it is the most cycle friendly city in New Jersey so thought we may as well give it a go. From the ferry terminal we cycled passed all the boats docked in the harbour, crossed a bridge and arrived in Hoboken.

Hoboken was lovely. Full of brown stone buildings and tree lined streets. There were also lots of cycle lanes so we had nothing to worry about.

We headed towards the Hudson. Our cycle was supposed to continue for another 5-10 km but unfortunately the kids were back at school on Monday and hadn’t completed their half term homework so we decided we ought to head back.
I don’t think we saw much of Hoboken so will definitely have to return when we have more time but this was a great cycle and I would recommend it to anyone. And we racked up another 16km on our bikes.
