Due to it being Martin Luther King’s Birthday it was a bank holiday in the US so Stuart had the day off work. We knew there had been some snow fall in New Jersey so wanted to find a shortish snow walk. We looked on google and found the Pyramid Mountain hike which was only about a one hour drive away.
As we drove towards the carpark at the trail head at Boonton there was snow on the roads – which we didn’t have at Monroe. We parked up and set off on our hike. There was lots of snow which made it quite difficult to follow the route.

Setting off on our hike!
I just let Stu lead the way as he had the map and we walked for quite a while on flat ground but then we encountered some hills which were quite difficult as it was rocky and snowy under foot.

Hiking up the hills
The scenery was beautiful so we were both trying to take the best photograph!

Some of our ‘best photo’ efforts!
There were some glacial rocks we were supposed to be looking out for – one was tripod rock which is a large rock balancing on three smaller rocks. There was also whale head rock and bear rock. We got to the point where we didn’t want to add distance to our hike to see another rock!

At the top of the hill there were lookout points and you could see the Manhattan skyline in the distance. At this point Izzy video called me from school so we showed off all the snow we had as I think it was just miserable in England!

It was time for us to return to the car as at this point we were freezing cold. It was a good hike though!
