It was our last full day in Jasper and we began the morning by visiting Athabasca Falls which was a 30 minute drive from our hotel. Once parked it was only a five minute walk to the viewing platform for the waterfall.

We then went for a short walk to the river where we were able to watch groups of people white water rafting.

As we made our way back to the car we walked along a path which had been carved into the rocks and you could see all the different layers of rock which had formed over the years.

We then did a quick pitstop at the ‘Welcome to Jasper’ sign before heading into the town to find some lunch.

For lunch we visited Montana’s BBQ and Bar as we fancied burgers and were given a great window seat overlooking the train line. An absolutely huge cargo train passed as we were eating which Stu & I videoed on our phones.

Amazing food at Montana’s
We returned to the hotel for the afternoon as Tom & Izzy wanted to go rowing on the hotel lake. We hired them a canoe and off they went for a couple of hours. Unfortunately a storm came in and the hotel staff went out in speedboats to check on all the people on the lake – Tom & Izzy were absolutely fine!

As it was our final night we decided to go wildlife spotting again and headed along the road towards Maligne Canyon. It wasn’t long before we saw a huge elk with antlers walking along the road side. We pulled over to take some photos of him – keeping a safe distance. Unfortunately we were joined by a group of people who had a very loud dog and the elk didn’t like it and chased them!

It was such a beautiful evening we returned to the hotel and went back to the lake to do some more sunset photography and were lucky enough to see a beaver and some geese.

Another beautiful evening at the Fairmont!
It was an early night for as in the morning we began our 2 day trek back to Vancouver Airport for our flight home.
