The Izu Peninsula – Lighthouses, Waterfalls and Wasabi in Rainy Season!
A day exploring the Izu Peninsula in the rain. We visited the Jogasaki Coast, Kawazu Seven Waterfalls and Joren Falls.
The Izu Peninsula, Japan – Driving from Hakone to Shuzenji
A travel day between Hakone and the Izy Peninsula. We stopped off at the Mishima Skywalk, Rakujuen Park and visited the hot springs town of Shuzenji Onsen where we sampled wasabi ice cream. We then checked into our hotel - the Marriot Izu.
Hakone, Japan – 2 nights in Hakone.
We spent two nights in an Airbnb in Hakone. We took cable cars up Mount Hakone, sailed on the pirate ship on Lake Ashi and had beautiful views of Mount Fuji.
Kyoto, Japan – Navigating trains and buses to visit Fushimi Inari Taisha, To-ji Temple and Nishiki Market.
A day in Kyoto using trains and buses to visit Fushimi Inari Taisha, To-ji Temple and Nishiki Market. We also went to Kyoto Train Station in the evening to see the light show on the staircase.
Kyoto, Japan – a Day Trip to Nara
We took the train from Kyoto to spend the day in Nara. We visited Kofuku-ji and Todai-ji but spent most of our time feeding the deer crackers!
Kyoto, Japan – Taking the Bullet Train from Hiroshima
We travelled from Hiroshima to Kyoto on the bullet train in the morning. In the afternoon we visited Kinkaku-ji and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest before checking in to our Airbnb for the next few days.
Hiroshima, Japan – Boat trip to Miyajima Island
We took a boat trip from Hiroshima to Miyajima Island to see the deer and visit the orange gate of Itsukushima Jinga.
Hiroshima, Japan – Taking the bullet train from Tokyo.
This was a travel day between Tokyo and Hiroshima. We used the bullet train which took only four hours to travel approximately 800km. We checked into our hotel for the next few days and wandered down to the Peace Memorial Park.
Tokyo, Japan – Teamlab Planets, Aquarium Art and Katsu Curry
Our third and final day in Tokyo before heading south to Hiroshima. We visited Teamlab Planets, the Aquarium Art Museum and spent the evening retro gaming in Akihabara.
