After spending three nights in Singapore it was time for us to move to our next destination – Langkawi. We were really excited as we had never done an island beach holiday before. We ate a very early breakfast at the hotel, took a taxi to Singapore Airport, checked our bags in and headed to the airport lounge which we could enter due to our credit card. It was a beautiful airport lounge and very quiet. Stu and I had a cheeky glass of wine – despite it only being 9.30am in the morning and I sampled some macha cake.

Arriving at Singapore Airport.
We were flying with Air Asia and it was one of the most relaxed boardings we had ever experienced. There was no rushing to get on the plane and most people arrived 10 minutes before the plane was due to leave.

Our plane for the 1 hour 15 minute flight to Langkawi.
On landing we walked from the plane across the runway to Langkawi’s airport terminal and once we were through immigration we were greeted by a Euro-car representative with our hire car for the next few days. We were too early to check into our Airbnb so we went to find a supermarket. The first grocery store google maps suggested didn’t really sell food – mostly hardware items, some Christmas decorations, pringles and drinks. We did some more research on google maps and discovered a Billion Superstore the other side of the island so headed there.
It was a decent supermarket with a massive fresh fish counter although we did not recognise any of the fish. There was also a huge fresh meat display and Tom found a stand full of ox lungs. We bought the ingredients to make a spaghetti bolognaise for tea, stopped off at a KFC for lunch then headed to our Airbnb property.
The Airbnb was the most beautiful property we had stayed in. It was designed to feel as if you were in the rain forest and had a stunning outdoor pool and garden.

Our beautiful Airbnb for three nights
We all played in the pool for an hour or so and then noticed that there was a hornbill in the garden.

A hornbill perched on a branch overlooking the pool.
Stu and I decided to drive to the local beach for a quick wander and then we spent the evening in the pool and admiring the wildlife which entered the garden and house!
