After a busy travel day we woke up to a beautiful sunrise and ate our hot cross buns for breakfast, which we had carried in our suitcases from the UK, before setting off for the Sky Bridge cable cars.

When we arrived at the cable car station each gondola could seat six people. Despite it not being particularly busy the staff were very strict about filling each car! We ended up sitting with a couple from Liverpool who we started chatting to. I am not a fan of cable cars so kept my eyes closed for most of the ride whilst Stu took lots of photos for me!

We stopped off at the middle station to visit the viewing platform and there were some incredible views of the rainforest and little islands in the ocean.

We returned to the cable cars which then crossed a ravine and took us to the Sky Bridge. I thought the bridge would be quite scary to walk on as I hate heights but it really wasn’t that bad. When we got to the far end we were greeted by lots of monkeys who were playing in the trees and climbing all over the rails on the bridge. We knew there was a chance of seeing monkeys but had not expected there to be so many.

We returned back down on the cable car and despite us having brought some bread and cheese for lunch decided to eat in one of the restaurants. We selected an Indian restaurant where Stu, Izzy and I ordered pizza and Tom selected sweet and sour chicken! The food was ok but we were convinced that they were frozen pizzas that the restaurant just heated up in the oven!

We had planned to visit a waterfall, but we’d heard there wasn’t much water flowing, so instead we headed to Sandy Skulls Beach, which had very good reviews. Unfortunately, when we arrived it was absolutely packed and the tide was in, so we took one look and promptly left! Instead, we headed back to the Airbnb for some pool time.

Izzy had been doing some research on TikTok for ‘viral’ places to eat. We wanted to visit ‘The Cliff’ but they did not respond to our reservation request so instead Izzy selected a beachfront restaurant called ‘The Hidden’. It was only a ten minute drive from our Airbnb so we decided to arrive early in case it got busy. We were given a beautiful table on the patio area overlooking the sea. We ordered some cocktails and Stu ordered a smoked duck pizza, I chose mushroom pasta, Izzy chose pasta with scallops and Tom had a risotto. The food was lovely.

We had hoped to watch the fire dancers but we were far too early so after eating we went for a walk along the beach to take some sunset photos, visited ‘The Cliff’ to make a reservation for the following night and had a quick stroll through the town before heading back home for some more pool time.
