After a very long travel day, followed by a day exploring Gardens by the Bay jetlag was starting to set in. I gave Stu the task of finalising our itinerary and he decided it would be nice to visit Little India. We took the train from our hotel but when we arrived we didn’t really have a plan of action. We went for a wander and saw a couple of temples but were not enjoying ourselves (probably because we were all very tired!)
After an hour we decided it was time to move to another destination and headed to Fort Canning Park a historic hilltop park.
Fort Canning Park
When we arrived it was ridiculously hot so we were pleasantly surprised to see that you could take an escalator up the hill! At the top Tom and Izzy found a little swing to play on!

We then spent about an hour exploring the gardens and even found a lighthouse – Forth Canning Light – which guided ships towards Singapore harbour until 1958. Although it was a replica.

Exploring Fort Canning Park
We walked down to the river area and found a Starbucks so we had a quick pitstop and I tried the new Snoopy drink and Tom thought he’d ordered himself a chocolate milkshake but it turned out to be a hot chocolate!
China Town
After our little rest break we took the tube to China Town. It was full of tourist shops and we decided to enter the Temple but unfortunately Izzy could not join us as her shorts were too short!

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple
We then explored some of the tourist shops where Izzy purchased a baseball cap and I bought myself some fridge magnets. We took the train back to the hotel stopping off at the Wok Shop to pick up some beef noodles, beef rendang, fried rice and ramen for lunch!

Marina Bay Sands Light Show
After watching the Gardens by the Bay light show for two nights we wanted to also see the Marina Bay Sands Show. There were two showings a night, 8pm and 9pm so we aimed to watch the earlier show and then go find some food.
We walked down to the marina – it was the fourth time Stu & I had now done this walk – and although it was lovely we were getting quite bored of it!

Memorial Park – on the way to the Marina

We watched the light show which was only 15 minutes long but cool to see and then went to look for food.

The Marina Bay Sands Fountain and Lightshow
We wanted to eat at Bread Street Kitchen but there was a huge queue so we found another restaurant which served pub food and ate there. Stu, Izzy and I shared a chicken basket whilst Tom opted for ribs and mac & cheese. The food was really good!

Dinner time!
As we left the restaurant the second show had begun so we were able to watch it from a different view point. We then wandered around the marina taking photos before returning to the hotel for an earlyish night as we were flying to Langkawi the next morning. We really enjoyed our three days in Singapore and thought it was a beautiful country.
